Folding, road or gravel: choose for your everyday ride

Start with your usual roads, storage space and carrying needs before comparing models.

← Buying guides

Storage and carrying

Measure storage space and the opening of your car boot. Practise folding, lifting and loading. Check the actual model’s dimensions and weight: a folding frame is not automatically easy to carry.

Mostly paved roads

Start with ride duration and comfort. Endurance and race-oriented road bikes serve different priorities. Try the reach, brake controls and riding position before comparing materials and components.

Gravel and luggage

Describe the surface and luggage first, then check tyre clearance, mounts and gearing. Specifications vary by model and year; a family name is not a complete specification.
