Buying a folding bike: test storage and carrying first

A realistic practice run can tell you more than a folded-dimensions table.

← Buying guides

Measure three places

Measure your storage area, narrowest passage and boot opening. Photograph them with a scale reference, and mention stairs or one-handed carrying needs.

Try three actions

Watch a demonstration, then follow the model’s instructions to fold, lift and place it. Notice chain contact, stability when parked and how clearly you can identify the locks.

Compare after the practical test

Confirm year, wheel format, measured-weight conditions, folded size, warranty and maintenance requirements. Check transport operators’ carriage rules separately.
